Trips

I like travelling – what I really like is to learn (also through museums), to see nice architecture, getting to know the history of a country, learn languages, interact with people… I decided to post just a few old pictures, to remember them :) It was amazing to see again old photos, when I was thinner :) To see that I wasn’t so “colorful” before – my clothes at the time are so… practical (I still like so), but not very colorful :) Or maybe the colors today are more vivid because of the digital technology. I’m sorry for the photos quality – they were “paper photos”  :)

Disclaimer: By no means this page is about “bragging”, before someone thinks so. There’s nothing to brag about, in my opinion – everybody travels. It’s for me to have a place to see my pictures and remember good moments! I confess it’s more because I’m lazy. I have 3 computers and my digital pictures of more recent trips are on the other two, and I don’t want to look for them now!

Luxembourg

Andorra, Spain, Luxembourg and Belgium; I went to these places some times and still go – nice spots!

I went to Austria many times (I even spent one new year’s eve there), Salzburg included, Vienna, Graz, Kindberg, Semmering and other cities, too. And France, fantastic! I spent some new year’s eves in Paris, very cool. And I went to, among others (difficult to remember all, now), Saint-Malo sometimes (I love it), Alençon, Le Merleraut, Aigue, Honfleur, Rouen, Caen, Le Havre, Cherbourg, Dol-de-Bretagne, Rennes, Mount-Saint Michel, Nice, Cannes, Bordeaux, Chambery, Poitiers (where part of my family is from), Strassbourg, Riquewihr, Eggisheim, Colmar (some times), Le Mans, Tours, Osseja, Reims and so many more cities. I have a Master’s in French Cultural Affairs – Literature, Philosophy and History, so it shows how much I love the country!

Some lovely parts of France: Grasse and Paris for the new year of 2000; then Vienna and Malm Malmö

Some parts of France: Grasse and Paris for the new year of 2000; then Vienna-Austria and Malmö-Sweden

Italy – another case of love and part of my family. I love Italy! I went to many cities as well – Treviso, Venice twice, Rome, Brindisi (so cute!), Milan, Bergamo, Pisa, Firenze, Verona, Lucca and many other cities, and I am always longing to go again and again!

Italy

Italy – la bella Italia! Here, showing Rome

Portugal

Lichtenstein, Monaco and Portugal – here showing Lisbon

Buenos Aires

Czech Republic, some times, then Copenhagen-Denmark (twice), Buenos Aires-Argentina and Colonia del Sacramento – Uruguay (twice)

Because I normally rent a car, I went to many more cities in Czech Republic, Argentina and Uruguay (Montevideo, of course, the capital). But as I said, I chose for the page the “best” pictures :) One thing I love is to travel alone. I have gone to many places alone, and you can do what you want – see what you want, sleep when you want, buy what you want :)

San Diego and Mexico

This is San Diego – United States, where I was studying at San Diego State University  and Mexico

Zurich

Zurich- Switzerland and Scotland – here showing Edinburgh

To Switzerland I went a dozen of times too, Zurich being the place I most visited. In Scotland I went to the fantastic Edinburgh, Perth and Inverness – and close to it, I saw the Loch Ness. It’s really amazing!

To the Netherlands I went a dozen of times, too, mainly to Amsterdam, I love it! And Utrecht, Aalsmeer, Zwolle, Nijkerk, Afsluitdijk, Gouda, Venlo, Maastricht, Eindhoven, Rotterdam and others. Two of my best friends live there and I love to visit them!

Athens

Punta del Este beach – Uruguay, Athens-Greece, Vatican and Afsluitdijk– Netherlands

To Greece I went twice and to amazing places: Patras, Corfu, Igoumenitsa, Chalkidiki, Thessaloniki and other places on my post here.

Germany

Germany – Fulda, Trier, Heidelberg and Berlin

Germany is a chapter that would need two pages :) I lived and studied there, for my Masters and to improve my German language skills. So in many years I went to many places, many weddings and got my Master’s in British Social Affairs – Politics and Economy for Education History and Literature. I know, the name is long, it included lots of aspects. I used to study, in the final year, around 16 hours a day, so demanding it was. I went to every state of Germany and even to some islands. These are not all the cities, towns and free states I have gone in Germany, but the ones I remembered :)

Aachen, Apolda, Augsburg, Baden Baden, Bamberg, Bergen auf Rügen, Berlin, Bielenfeld, Blumenau, Bochum, Bonn, Braunschweig, Bremen, Celle, Chemnitz, Cologne, Darmstadt, Dessau, Dortmund, Dossenheim, Dresden, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Erfurt, Erlangen, Essen, Flensburg, Frankfurt am MainFrankfurt (Oder), Freiburg im Breisgau, Fulda, Füssen, Garbsen, Gera, Gießen, Glottertal, Görlitz, Gotha, Göttingen, Grossburgwedel, Hamburg, Hameln, Hanover, Heildelberg, Heilbronn, Herzberg am Harz, Hildesheim, Hinterzarten, Isernhagen, Jeggau, Jena, Jülich, Kaiserslautern, Kassel, Kehl, Laatzen, Langenhagen, Lehrte, Leipzig, Lohne, Lübeck, Manheim, Meißen, Munich, Neu-Ulm, Nuremberg, Oldenburg, Peine, Potsdam, Putbus, Rostock, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, SaarbrückenSalzgitterSalzwedel, Sassnitz, Schmiedeberg, Seelze, Steinhuder Meer, Stralsund, Stuttgart, Titisee, Trier, TübingenUelzen, Ulm, Weimar, Wolfsburg, Zwickau.

  1. Hi Denise, this post is very good because you say many things about you and your travels. You are a very lucky woman because you did a thing that many people wanted to do. Traveled around the world. It’s very good and I know that you don’t want to brag with your travels. You make me remember a man in a movie that I saw one time with George Clooney. It was “Up in the air”. You have traveled almost as much as he. That is a thing that I admire you. You are a true walking encyclopedia.
I was surprised by the information that you like to travel alone. How can you have your photos?
I hope you have a nice weekend and be very happy.

    • Hello!Thank you for your lovely comment! Oh no, I haven’t traveled “the world”, but some places – there is still much to see! I didn’t say that I travel alone all the time, but many times. The photos I posted were taken by other people, but I don’t always have photos of myself, but the place, the architecture, the museums and that I do alone. But even if I want a picture of me in front of a monument, I politely ask locals to take a picture or I put the camera on automatic mode and run to be in front of it – I then have 9 seconds till it takes the picture :) Again, thank you for the sweet comment, hope you have a nice day!
