News for Fairfax County School Board, but would be good for everybody! They approved later school start times – around one hour later, at 8:10 AM. Not for all levels, but teenagers – there were studies showing the need for sleep for them. It took a decade to change the rule! Doctors from Children’s National Medical Center studied whether students needed more sleep, saying that, on average, children sleep 6 hours a night or even less, when right is to sleep for 9 hours.

Sleeping is important… other things too. Sight. I need to ask for understanding – I’m facing some sight issues and I’m not able to read long posts, but can see pictures. I’m sorry for that, but I’m on treatment and now I’m not able to read well. I love reading and this is bad news :(

  1. Awh, I’m sorry to hear your eyesight hasn’t been too good! I hope you feel better soon!

    I definitely don’t get enough quality sleep, with school I have to be up at 6, and can’t go to bed until 11. It’s been a resolution for ages to get more sleep!

    Ma a che ora iniziano le scuale da voi??? Qui in Italia iniziano da sempre alle 8.15/30 am!
    Dormire è molto importante per tutto il corpo! io dormo 8/9 ore, anche se durante la settimana mi alzo prestissimo per andare a correre, vado sempre a letto presto, mentre nel week end faccio tardi la sera ma la mattina dormo quanto voglio! ^^
    Sei sempre bellissima dentro e fuori, con quegli occhioni e quel sorriso dolce, ed i tuoi look sono sempre super originali, hai una collezione di accessori davvero invidiabile! 😀

  3. Sometimes I feel bad for myself because I’m too addicted with my pc and it results me to sleep less. Geez, its making me look bad hihi..
    But anyway, you look so beautiful and blooming in the pictures, hun.. maybe because it was paired with a sweet smile.

  4. Hola Denise! Que informativo y refrescante tu post. Es verdad que se necesita dormir la cantidad suficiente de tiempo. Yo ya quisiera dormir mas, aunque te soy sincera que muchas veces puedo ir a dormir mas temprano pero siempre hay algo que pasa y voy a domir tarde. Debo de hacer cambios en la vida y en esta area en particular. Esperemos que los estudiantes tengan buenos resultados y el colegio tambien.

  5. Sleep is one of our body’s most fundmental needs, aside from consuming food and drink. I only get about 6 hours of sleep a night. It’s not enough I know. But life is just so busy that I can’t see a way forward right now to getting to bed earlier. I will keep trying though. Oh Denise, so sorry to hear that you are having problems with your vision. I do hope this is a temporary thing? Keep strong and seek out whatever help you can. We’re in this life only once :). Kisses Tracey xxx

  7. I wish I could get 8 hr sleep lucky if I get 5 hrs. You look stunning doll hope everything works well with your eye sight it must be a little nerve racking for you but keep the faith that you will see better.

  8. I’m so sorry to hear you can’t read at the moment. I hope your eyes get better soon. I’m such a visual person, when I have problems with my eyesight (not very often fortunately),I get really nervious.

    On a brighter note, you look stunning in this outfit. That maxi skirt is gorgeous and I like the shoes with heels. I think I have a similar pair and I love them…The necklaces you are wearing are lovely…you accessorized so well.

    Sleep is very important. I think I’ve been getting enough sleep lately, It used to take me hours to fall asleep. Sometimes I didn’t even fall asleep. But, lately i’ve been doing pretty well. :)
    I’m sorry you’re having trouble with reading. That must be difficult. Hope all is well with your eyesight.

  12. I hope you eyesight problems get sorted soon, not reading is a nightmare!
    Regarding sleep I feel like I need around eight hours to feel good, but I get around six throughout the week and maybe seven at the weekends, and I can feel it draining me.

It must be very hard not to be able to read ((())) Regarding the sleep question, well I know I don’t get enough sleep. It’s been a crazy year so far and it doesn’t look it will get less crazy soon, lol. Anyhow, I hope your rug has been delivered by now? What color is it? Pattern, no pattern? Right now I am totally crazy about all that interior decorating stuff. It’s kinda refreshing, although I am still lost. But I am enjoying it tremendously, Denise.   15. Hope that everything will go fine with your treatment, dear! What about sleeping, I love sleeping well, but not so long, for example, I usually sleep about 7-8 hours, everyday I wake up early (near 6 a.m.) and I feel vivid and not sleepy for all day. Moreover, even on the weekend I don’t use to sleep more than 8 hours, because I feel a little bit tired if I sleep too long.So, to sum this up, I think that I have nice sleeping habits 😉 Btw, I love your shoes, Denise, as I said here many times before, you have great collection of your footwear, dear friend :)

    I’m sorry about your eye-sight. I was born with a bad eyesight — myopia. Hope yours will be back to a perfect 20-20 vision soon.

    and yes, 8-10 hours of sleep is very important. I am unable to sleep at night because I work graveyard shift as a web developer. I love my work but there are times that I badly want to sleep for 5 years hahaha just kidding. I miss sleeping at night.

  17. interesting post because I know I dont sleep enough, even though i know its good for you!!! I get home late from work and I only have an hour or two to just relax before having to go to bed to get a full 8 hours, and sometimes I end up staying later and end up getting only 6 hours, which I can totally feel the drag the next day! Sorry to hear about your sight, hopefully your eyes can rest enough and you can start to read again! I love reading as well! My eyes have started hurting when I read too much on my computer or phone or ipad, maybe your eyes need some rest or use glasses to let them not have to do all the work in focusing? hope you are better soon dear denise! have a great weekend!

  18. Oh, I know that sleeping well is important but lately I was sleeping a few hours. Not because I have difficult to sleep but, because I have many things to do and the time in a day isn’t enough to do everything. So, I sleep only 3 or 4 hours a day. I think that is a waste of time when we are sleeping.
    But I know that isn’t a good thing to do.
