Magical Mystery Tour

Magical Mystery Tour – a movie, with the Beatles, with Beatles songs – and a tour in Liverpool, a city I simply adore!

I recently told I’m busy with a big academic project and for that, I’ve been visiting cities and libraries on a regular basis, looking after rare books. I was very happy to know that one of the cities would be Liverpool, a city I LOVE. Some years ago I was there, on the Magical Mystery Tour. This post shows my second time there, at the uni – I hope I go more times :) The university is really great and very well ranked in Europe and the library and staff are awesome, so helpful. Bonus: a permanent exhibition on the building’s architecture. I recommend it!

Besides, it’s the city of The Beatles :) and “my” football/soccer team :) I’m a huge Beatles’ fan since I was 11 years old! Long time apart, but still, I loved to know them. Since then, I won a Beatles’ contest to show how much a fan would know about the Magical Mystery Tour. Over 5,000 participants, the jury thought I knew more :) I have some memorabilia shown in my main place (but not overly). I love to have these things on display!

And finally, this year Liverpool held the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, a revolutionary album! Are you a big fan of any band or singer?

Since childhood - what people call Auburn. It's a mix of reddish-brown and natural golden highlights. Although in pics the eyebrows look dark, they are not in person :)

The University is great!

    • I totally agree with you; ever since I went there for the first time, I fell in love with Liverpool – and the love just grew through other visits! Thank you so much for the lovely comment!

  2. Hi Denise! Firstly I have to say that I love Beatles too – their music is timeless and some of their songs remind me about really important events in my life, so it’s great to hear that you’re huge fan of this band as well. When it comes to my favourite bands, I’m fan of Depeche Mode (I’m going on their concert next year and I’m super excited because of that :D) and if you asked my about singer, I really like to listen to Sia, moreover, I love film music, I adore songs which were created by Hans Zimmer. Backing to the post – congrats on winning the contest, you had to be really pround of yourself. Have a great time in Liverpool, I’m more than sure that it’s great city, I hope that I’ll visit it someday. :)
    Take care, dear friend :)

  3. I had no idea you were such a fan! It’s really weird to have read this post TODAY as we borrowed the White Album CD from my husband’s mother to play in the car and we have been listening to it all day! I remember seeing the Magical Mystery Tour bus when we were in Liverpool last year on our cruise. I liked it. Have you been to Speke Hall? I went there last year and it was fab!

  4. Wonderful pictures! It’s always amazing to be on any college campus.

I was never a huge fan of the Beatles (no particular reason, I do like several of their songs) .. but I loved Paul McCartney when he formed the band Wings.

Hope all is well with you :-)

  5. How cool is this, must have been such an experience as you are such a fan. I would love to get to Liverpool some day. I have been to London twice but never made it up there. And I love the accents there. Different from London or further south.

Thanks for sharing your photos of your trip!

    • Dear Allie! Thank you so very much for reminding me of the accent! You know, at least for me, when we write a post nd one thing is missing – I did forget to say that one of the things I really love in Liverpool is the Liverpudlian accent! It’s so sweet and if I can say, romantic :) You are so right loving it :) I remember listening to George Harrison speaking and I was like ooohhhh, how cool! Thank you again for such a lovely comment, I hope you have a sweet day!

  7. Hi my sweet Denise, Lovely pics in the above. You always look so sweet and innocent in a beautiful way, if you know what I mean. I am a huge fan of a lot of bands and singers, the Beatles are not among them, I am afraid to say. Sorry, my friend. Not my kinda music at all. But we all have different taste and likes, tho. How are you doing, Denise? Hope you are feeling fine and doing well? I am still very busy, so sorry for not stopping by more often. Happy Friday, my sweet friend and enjoy your weekend ahead.
    big hugs
    Lenya
    : : Bye Bye August : :

    • Dear Lenya, so lovely comment! Thank you so much for it, even though you are so busy, I truly appreciate it! It’s fine about the Beatles, because I myself have many different tastes, as everybody. I like from pop, oldies, classic to tango, flamenco, Indian music and African beats :) I am sure that we share some musical tastes :) I really love your comments, you always make my day! Thank you so much, dear friend! I hope you have a very beautiful weekend! Hugs and kisses!

  8. Hey Denise :) finally I’m back to your blog! This sounds a really nice visit. I wish I can go back to UK as I went soo many years ago and I miss it so much <3 happy Saturday!! xx

  9. Hola Denise!
    xx

  10. I like Beatles. I can’t say that I’m a huge fan or anything like that, but I feel there is something positive in their music. So many of their songs are just- real classics. They had a really particular energy and it always makes me think of that place and time- the restless energy of the sixties and seventies. Once I saw a documentary about a lady who had been their secretary for years. She was very young when she started working for them, I think only 16 or 17. In a way, they were growing up together. She said they were all really nice and always stood out for her when their manager or anyone else would try to fire them. That lady seems so nice- she still works as a secretary and she is so modest. If you haven’t seen that documentary, I do recommend it to you- here is a link to a trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoAJLFk1CiI

Anyhow, I hope to visit Liverpool some day too! I’m sure it is a great city to explore. It was lovely browsing these photos of yours, I feel like I’ve done some travelling myself (even if in reality I haven’t traveled much lately, I can at least travel virtually with the help from online frieds).:)
