Half of the year is gone!

Hello! Please don’t be put off by the date on the left – today is July 28th, Monday! Because I have had kind of “different hectic weeks” it meant not enough time to post. Since I think this post is still VERY relevant to me, I’m recycling it again :) Hope you don’t mind and that you like it! I know we are in July, of course… But I’m still living in the first semester of the year… I confess – it was so good, I want to extend that feeling!

In June I only posted twice :( because of a trip and the World Cup. And in July only once :) Anyway, my sweet blogger-friends know exactly when I have a new post – when I comment on their blogs :) I don’t comment three times a week, but I’m a loyal reader. Despite that, I’m really interested in your posts! Do believe me!

The first half of the year is gone, the second has just started – I wanted to have track of what I have done so far and add the things I did in June, so to remember the time and the places. Here it goes!

1stsemester2014I bought many nice things, got nice presents, went to many museums – love history!, cooked quite a lot, bought new furniture, had birthday. Trips till June: England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Brazil.

On the 15th I flew to Rio and saw many football supporters on the streets and official buses with some national teams, like Algeria and South Korea:

That’s my summary of the first half of the year. It really flies! Hope you didn’t get bored with so many pictures. I just wanted to have a closure, so to have a new canvas for the second part of 2014!

May you all have a great week with many sweet smiles and nice words!

Thanks for the lovely comments, I look so much forward to reading them!

If you like the blog, would you like my page on facebook? I’ll be so glad!

    • Hello, welcome! Thank you for the comment! I loved choosing which picture would make it to the blog… it was like living those moments again, and I loved them so much! I’m now following you on Bloglovin! You have a sweet blog, with beautiful pictures! Hope you week is very nice!

    • Thank you so much, “lunch girls”! I had fun selecting the pictures, cause I then remembered the places again, and I loved being there! Hope you have a beautiful week!

  1. Omg, you´ve been in so many places just in half of year. It´s unbelievable. And you bought so great items, love the shoes, the orange ones are gorgeous. You look really lovely in the pics. Wish you to have second half of year as successful as the first one sweetie. :)

    • Hi, you are lovely! Such a lovely comment! Thank you so much! I do love shoes :) we all love, right? The orange ones are like sculptures – I’m eager to wear them, still new :) You know some years when we think “oh no, not a great one…” and years that we think “wow, that was fantastic!” Well, I think I’m in one of the latter. I hope the second half is as nice as the first one, just like you wished! Thank you for the sweet wish! And I wish a great year for you, too, and a very nice week now!

    • Hi, Monica, thank you so much for the comment! You are always so sweet, thanks for your words – actually, I think my second half will be way less exciting, but it’s a time for relaxing, so, why not! Balance is the key for everything, I suppose! Hope you have a great week – surely I’ll visit you, you know!

    • Dear Hati, thank you so much! I would love to believe it :) You are always so sweet! Well, I prefer with a bit of makeup, but one day I read about a girl who tried to see the reactions of people towards her when without makeup, then a bit, then heavy makeup. I wanted to see the reactions towards me, and that’s why I went out that way! I found it liberating, I must confess, but so “not me” :) Maybe I have to get used to it :) Thank you again for your lovely comment, you are always amazing!

  2. Hi Denise, thanks for sharing these amazing photo memories with us. Id love to see the Giants Causeway in person, it must be one of natures most unique creations! Love all your pretty bags and you look as beautiful without makeup as you do with it! Love that sweet pic with you cooking! Thanks for your comment… Hope you have a fantastic week ahead!

    • Hi, dear Sam! Thank you a lot about your comment, it is always so sweet! The Giant’s Causeway was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, and a National Nature Reserve in 1987. And in a 2005 “poll of Radio Times readers, the Giant’s Causeway was named as the fourth greatest natural wonder in the United Kingdom” (wikipedia) :) I wanted to go there so so much and finally it happened! Thank you very much about the “no makeup experiment” :) but somehow, I think either I am so used to some makeup (I don’t like it heavy, I try to have it really simple), or I do feel I look better with a bit of “artificial color” :) I wish you an amazing week!

  3. Oh Denise, you have a lot of cute stuff and you are a world traveler to the max. How fun is to visit all these lovely places and so so jealous. I love travelling too and we make time when we can esp on when school is out. All the memories created is simply priceless to me. And how cute are you in these apron, such a darling nice lady.

    • Hi, Sam, so happy with your sweet comment! You are right to do that, when school is out, it’s really beautiful going out with your family, and I agree and believe, the memories are priceless! Thank you about the “apron picture” :) I tried to change my hairstyle to look like a “1940s housewife”, but it made me feel older! But not that it was bad, it was nice too! Hope you have a very beautiful week!

  4. Wow Denise it looks fantastic! That’s great that you are travelling so much! Do you get to travel with work or taking lots of trips? I hope you have a great time. Also I feel the same about the world CUp – normal life is suspended until it’s all finished! XX

    • Hi, Laila, thank you so much for your nice comment! I have been travelling that much for many years (some of my posts last year list some spots)- sometimes I plan a trip ahead, sometimes I decide about it spontaneously and in some days I’m on the road – or in the air :) I did travel sometimes because of work, but not very much. I just want to enjoy life to the fullest – of course it varies from person to person; for me that is a way :) Yes, till Sunday it seems people are in such a World Cup fever – I guess normal life re-starts next week! :) Hope you have a great week, too! Again, thanks for the sweet comment!

    • Thank you so much, dear Anna! I tried to post a summary, I bought more things, but the collage just accepted that number of pictures – but it is OK, it was just for me to keep track of my “madness” :) A dose of madness is good and necessary to live, I think! I am sure you will go to the places you want and thank you so much for wishing me another nice half of the year! The rest of the year :) And for you too! If it is like now, till June, I’ll be glad! But I think it’ll be balanced – not as hectic as before! Thank you again for the sweetness, you are great!!!!

    • Thank you, Anouka! Very nice to have your comment! I think the year will be balanced for me – a lot during the first half, not very much later :) Which is OK, everything must be balanced, I suppose! But nevertheless, I hope it is like you wished – and thank you for that! – as good as the first part! I wish you the same and I hope you have a beautiful week!

  5. Wow! You’ve been to so many great places. :) I love all the photos. You look so lovely, as always. Your photo on the Temple Bar is so cute, I love the caption. Haha! The Giant Causeway is so stunning. I haven’t heard of it before but it looks amazing. You nailed your no-make up challenge. You look beautiful with or without make-up. 😀 I love this post and I enjoyed reading it. I was supposed to make a post about the highlight of the first half of the year but then a lot of things came up, I guess I’ll try again next year. Haha! :)

    Have a great day Denise!

    • Dear Shekinah! The “no makeup challenge” started because I saw on facebook something on your page!!! You inspired me, and I then tried that – thanks for your sweet words and compliment! But I still prefer with a little of makeup, not much. The Giant’s Causeway was new to me till March 2013 – then a friend showed it to me and I thought “oh wow, I want to go there too!” As well as many places that I don’t know and I will get to, along the years (I hope!) – you can recommend me some, please! I think you can still write your “half of the year” post! We are only on the 10th, why not for the next week? I’d love to read it! Thank you so much for your always lovely comments! I really love them!

  7. Such a beautiful post with lots of pictures, and many interesting places I’d love to visit some day. Loved Giant’s Causeway! What a place! I’d love to go there!
Also, the pic with you cooking wearing an apron is so cute! And I told you that you look amazing even without your fringe. You should wear it like this from time to time.
Beautiful photos, great times, amazing memories in Europe. Half a year, already gone. Wow!

    • Oh, dear M, thank you so much for this lovely comment and the compliments, I feel so flattered! You are so sweet, and yes, you told me about the fringe – but you know, when someone is used to something… then changing is a bit of a “challenge” :) I liked to change for the picture, but I still feel a bit strange without the fringe! Yes, half of the year is gone, and thankfully I spent it gathering nice memories, as you mentioned… that’s to balance the other half of the year, hahaha, you know what I mean! Hope you have a great weekend, enjoy summer there!

    • Thank you so much! Some locations were chosen, and some were just a lucky coincidence along the way! I really liked doing that on the first half! Now, to balance the year I’ll have more relaxing months – which also means, sometimes… as restless as I am, a bit boring :) But as I said, balanced! Hope you have a great Sunday!

    • Hello, thank you Shaira, and welcome to the blog! Yes, they were hectic 6 months, but now the next ones will be more relaxing! But I liked the first half of the year! Hope you have a great week, and thanks again for the nice comment!

    • Hi, MJ, thank you sooo much! I feel so flattered! I don’t know, some comments saying I look good without makeup, and I thank you for that :) but I really like some makeup… I feel better :) This half of the year will be very calm, so it’s to balance the other half :) Thank you a lot for your lovely comment!!!!

  8. hey, Denise. long time no see. again 😛 hope all is well with you and the second half of the year has been a success for you. by the way, it’s definitely crazy that already more yhan 6 months have passed by like the wind :O I can’t believe it!
when I look at your 6 months I’m positively amazed and surprised how much you have travelled. it’s crazy, haha but I bet it feels amazing to see so many different countries, people, cultures, traditions, everything. it’s always liberating to experience the life somewhere else for a change. oh and you look great without makeup, that’s a fact!

    Maiken,
Maikeni blogi – part of me

    • Hi, Maiken, thank you soooo very much for this lovely comment! You always make my day! I left a comment as well, and then I realized you were travelling too, or so I guessed! I think now I see you have a new post, I am eager to read it! It’s true, it’s good to see different things, but also to be balanced – and this second part of the year will be less hectic, for sure! Thank you so much about the “no makeup” compliment, but that was just an experiment – I feel so different and “naked” without a bit of color! Thank you again for your always sweet comments!

    • Hi, June, thank you so much for your comment! I loved being in each of the places, but this second half of the year will be very relaxing – so it’s to balance the first half! Although I am ready for more adventures, for sure! I don’t travel for work, I travel just because I like and because I love to know new places and to learn! I’ll definitely visit your blog soon, I’m just finishing some weekly errands :) Thank you again for visiting and the sweet comment!

  9. Time sure does fly! I can’t believe that this year is half over! Looks like you have had a wonderful first half of the year and your travels looked amazing! You do look fantastic without makeup too! That vintage dress in the last picture is gorgeous! I hope the second half of this year for you is as fantastic as the first half!

    Rebecca
    http://www.winnipegstyle.ca

    • Hi, Rebecca, thank you for the lovely comment! Yes, time flies… soon we we’ll be seeing Christmas decorations… every year it comes a month earlier than before! The first half, for me, was hectic and therefore, for me, nice! The second half is more balanced and calmer. I guess it is needed to have a balanced life :) July is running – in a calm way, as I said – and I must confess, I started feeling TOO calm :) I guess I prefer my adventurous previous semester! Thank you for the compliments, but I couldn’t recognize or like me without makeup… I like a bit, not a lot, but a hint of facial color :) Hope you have a great weekend!

    • Thank you so much, Haley! I’m also following you on facebook! You are so sweet, thank you again for that and the comment! I try my best with pictures – the friends who like photographing don’t live close to me, so pictures are quite difficult to take! Sometimes I take selfies, but it’s not the same as the whole thing! So, I try the way I can :) It’s not that bad up to now :) Thank you for the compliment!

  10. Hi Denise, I have been thinking of you and hoping you’re well and then I saw the comment and was really happy to hear from you. I was feeling so drained myself this past three weeks and needed some serious inspiration, i think its the middle of year slump, lol. Hugs to you!

    • Thank you, my dear dear Sam! I’m doing fine, some days are more inspired and inspiring than others :) I even restarted painting yesterday! Thank you so much for that, I also think of you! I understand what you felt… I think you are right – must be the middle of year thing… we see the year runs so fast? Then comes John Lennon and says “another year is over, what have you done?” :) But I think you did a lot, and you have to be proud of! Hope you have a really great weekend and week!

    • Hello, thank you for the comment! Yes, you were a bit far away from blogging, but me too! I remember a blogger-friend saying “when it happens, it’s called life!” I loved that sentence! We have to live outside the web too! I will surely visit your blog soon! Thanks again for the comment!

    • Hi, Tracey, thank you for the comment! I was in Dublin many years ago as a tourist… and loved it! Then I moved there and started feeling a bit “apart”… I guess it’s called adapting :) After some months I found the places I liked and needed and started loving it again! It’s such a cool place, you are righ to love it too! I hope you have a great weekend!

    • Hello, Ellen! Thank you for this sweet comment, you’re great! You are so right, it’s so crazy how 6 months pass so fast… And July is again nearly ending! Surely I see your posts on facebook, I like them! I thank you for accepting to add me there too! And I hope you have a great day and week ahead – and thanks for wishing me good luck! It’s always important to keep luck high :) I send you luck wishes too!

    • Hi, Lorena! Thank you for the nice comment! Wow, you came from Ireland now! It’s great, you are right! I have been living there for some months and I’m discovering it little by little and I’m always amazed! If I have just known you were there, we could have met, but OK, another day then :) Hope you have a very beautiful week!

  11. Hey Denise! Thank you so much for all the lovely comments you’ve left on my blog.. I really appreciate it! Haven’t been blogging regularly so it’s a little bit hard to keep up with everything.. but wow, looking at your post you’ve been travelling to so many places! The places look incredibly gorgeous too.. wish I could be you! ;))

    • Hello, Jaslin! Thank you so much for the beautiful and sweet comment! I know how it is, in July I posted just once – the one you read :) I have had a hectic month, so it’s fine! Don’t worry, I always check what you wrote and where you are! The places I have seen this year made me feel amazed, and I’m longing to see more this year! Hope you have a great week, and thank you again for the nice comment!

    • Hi, Agnes, thank you for the comment – and you are so right! It’s such a coincidence, because this morning I was thinking “oh my word, July is nearly over – again! One more month nearly over!!!!” and soon we will have 2015!!! We need to enjoy a lot the next months! I did enjoy the first semester of 2014, and I hope you enjoy yours too! Hope you have a beautiful week!

  12. Hi Denise, so good hearing from you as always. I find that your point of view is so well developed and mature and you are wise beyond your years, you have so much wisdom and enlightenment to share with the rest of us. Loved reading your viewpoint on my last point… Have a Fabulous Weekend!

    • My dear friend, I don’t know if I deserve such amazing words, but thank you so very much! I don’t consider myself by any means wise, I have tons of difficulties to make decisions (in some areas) and normally when I make, they are wrong! But as I said, thank you so much for your words!!! They definitely help me to see me under a different light! Hope you have a great weekend!

    • Thank you for the lovely wish and the sweet comment! That’s what I’ve been thinking, I hope the rest of the year is as good as the first part! And I wish the same for you! Hope you have a nice Sunday!

    • Thank you so much, Paola! “Bellissima” was really sweet and gave a boost to my day, grazie! I really loved the places, wish I can go to some of them soon! Have a beautiful day! Baci!
