“David Bowie Is” exhibition is fantastic! When the exhibition was shown at Victoria and Albert Museum in London, I – very unfortunately – missed it. A dear friend and I tried to get tickets – sold out. This time, though, a surprise – it’s touring the world and is in Groningen, the Netherlands, 200 km far from where I was for some weeks (I’ve been “on the road” since Dec 25th) – no way I’d miss it now!
David Bowie was always an artist I admired very much and still do, of course. I was sad to know that he passed away. The exhibition was phenomenal! Visitors can know the pioneer artist and performer a bit better, his thoughts, paintings, his original costumes, – such a fashion inspiration -, through hand-written lyrics, music videos and more. The exhibition was already in Chicago, São Paulo, Paris and Berlin. In Groningen it will be till April 10th. Next to hold it is Japan (spring 2017).
I could write more about the exhibition, the way he influenced fashion, his amazing songs and all, but I like to keep my posts as short as possible – besides, we “all” know him. One important thing was the fact that it was forbidden to take pictures in many spaces – so visitors could really concentrate on the exhibition’s meaning and content. Nothing like mobiles’ lights all the time distracting. I was so excited to go there and it exceeded all expectations! It was like being in the 60s, going to the 70s and then the 80s in a time capsule, feeling I was part of the story – indescribable!
Now, to some (allowed) pictures of this incredible exhibition and Groningen, a beautiful city!
To finish, a tribute from artist Helen Green, with 29 Bowie’s “faces” – she explains her work In Billboard:
I hope you all have a great week full of smiles and great things!
Thanks for visiting and for the sweet comments!
