Britain’s longest reign

Britain’s longest reign – Queen Elizabeth II‘s record last week, on Sept 9th, at 5:30 PM :) She has other records too, and above all, a particular sense for colors! Let’s see her color chart?

Nearly my whole life I dedicated to British and American studies, with some degrees on that, the newest is Masters in British Education, Political and Economic affairs; so I want to pay my tribute to the record: Queen Elizabeth II is the longest monarch in British history, overcoming her great great-grandmother, Queen Victoria – 63 years and 216 days, in 1901. During the Queen’s reign she saw 12 British Prime Ministers, 7 Catholic popes and 12 American presidents.

She has set other records:
–  Longest reigning female  in world history;
–  Longest royal marriage, nearly 68 years;
 Oldest monarch as well, at 89;
–  Most countries with her portrait on the coinage, even in Fiji, where she no longer reigns;
–  She travelled the world more than any other monarch in the world – 116 countries;
–  She doesn’t have a passport;
–  She has “two birthdays:) April 21, celebrating it in June. I was invited once, a real honor;
–  Apparently she’s the most photographed woman in the world.

21-year-old Princess Elizabeth on her British Commonwealth and Empire speech said: “I declare that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong.” David Cameron led tributes to the Queen, saying “she has served this country with unfailing grace, dignity and decency; long may she reign“.

The Mirror says: “Dutiful, hard-working, cheerful and family-loving – and never without her handbag”. Yes, she is always with a black handbag :) Let’s see it and her love for bold colors!

The queen is no longer acquiring corgis (worried about falls, better not having dogs under foot). She has corgis since she was 18 (one went with the queen on her honeymoon).

“Inevitably, a long life can pass by many milestones. My own is no exception”, said the Queen. She has paid tribute to her husband in 1997 at their Golden Wedding anniversary: “He is someone who doesn’t take compliments easily, but he has, quite simply, been my strength and stay all these years.”

  1. Olá querida Denise, tudo bem?

    Eu acho a rainha Elizabeth realmente admirável!

I’ll suprise you, Denise, I’ve known this information before, ha! 😉 But I didn’t know that the Queen doesn’t have passport and that she travelled to so many countries :) I really like her vivid and monocolor outfits as well, especially I really enjoyed this chart from Vogue, it’s amazing recap of Queen’s style 😉 Hope you’re having great evening, dear :)

  4. Congrats on your degree such an accomplishment. I agree is all the facts about the Queen she does dress in every color one of her quality I admire is her love for her dog. Great post.

  5. Aaaah yes I am very proud of our monarchy and I can’t believe our Queen is still going strong, you’d think she’d want to retire but I’m glad she hasn’t. Her fashion sense is amazing and I do adore her handbag collection. Her handbags are made just up the road from where I love actually. I love those statistics about her – didn’t realise she was the most photographed woman in the world!

  6. Wow, I love your educational background, Denise! You really are super smart! Love the info on Queen Elizabeth too! Also, did you know that she just bought a condo in Chicago (the city I live in). Pretty interesting!
    Anyhow, I hope your eyes are feeling better! Mine still hurt – perhaps I’m just tired, though!
    Hab dich lieb!
    Have a great weekend, beautiful girl!

  7. Really lovely post and look at the Queen’s life, dear Denise. I find it thoroughly interesting that she doesn’t have a passport. I wonder if the same rings true for any other monarchs (British or otherwise), too?

    Big hugs & happy last weekend of summer wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

  8. Well, well, well, I think that this post is the most interesting here in your blog Denise. I loved it. It is definitively very instructive. I didn’t know that you was already invited to a party with the Queen Elizabeth II. Congratulations my dear. I’ll call you now, “Your Honorable Princess”.
    Thank you for that informations. They were helpful.
