Accessories and stories

Friday – yay!

Lately I haven’t been “elegant” – travelling non-stop “for ages” and changing cities every week for many months means I have to think what’s really important to carry and wear. This reminds me of a story about a lady who had the same thoughts while walking till Santiago de Compostela. I’ve been living the “life of a vagrant“, a friend of mine told me! There’s not much space for heels and skirts now, like I used to wear some time ago. But soon I’ll go back to my previous self! I miss it from time to time.

Having said that, I thought of showing some of my own design jewels I take with me or buy on trips. I end up wearing 1% of the stuff I carry; next time I’ll make sure I don’t carry so much with me. In my closets I have loads of stuff that I want to wear soon, plus 400 pairs of shoes – lately I have worn the same things everyday, but then we see, – or at least I saw, – how little we really need in life, if we think a bit.

We need shelter. Water. Food. Knowledge. Love. Health. Peace.

Looking a bit scared? It's just posing! To show my necklace - Design D. I go with my ideas to my friend Julie - she is brilliant, just like silver!

Always when I go to a different city - and it's quite often! - I buy something there, even small, to remember the place. Half moon with black stone earrings from Bath, long silver earringsand pearl drops by my friend Tina Silva, mother of pearl flower by my friend Rose - you can tell I have many friends who make jewels! The moon stone and Swarovski crystal earrings on the left corner are my design. Rose made for me.

Pearls - I love them! The colorful pearl necklace is my design - Julie then made for me, As well as the silver drop with letter and heart, like a key. My design too the Madonna by Raphael, that my grandmother left for me - notice the hearts holding it! Glass snake pendant from Saint-Malo, France.

I love pearls – colorful pearl necklace and silver pendant with letter and heart, like a key, are my design, made by Julie. My design too the hand painted Madonna della Seggiola by Raphael gem beads’ necklace, that my grandmother left for me – notice the hearts holding it! You can buy a similar one (but unfortunately smaller) here. Glass snake pendant from Saint-Malo, France. Resin letter D from Covent Garden, London. Crystal drop necklace made by myself.

My friend M. (check her great blog out!) came to London to visit me in November 2012 and gave me this amazing ring, from a Greek designer she knows! I loved it, always wear it! That picture was taken in January, 2013, in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

And that’s it for today! Do you carry a lot of accessories when travelling?

More pieces next week! For now, I wish you all a great weekend, may it be full of sweet smiles!

  1. Great story :)
I knwo what you mean about not being glammed – up :)

But it is very cool that you can travel so much right 😉 Before I forget to tell you ,, I really like your hair haha :)

    Have a great weekend 😀

    Kisses !!

    • Wow, really? I have been reading blogs and leaving comments about the hair of some of the girls, all so shiny and with different hairstyles… that I like… because right now I can’t take care of my hair – but thank you very much! Wow, it really made my day! The picture with the lovely ring was taken during holidays where I seldom stayed in the same city for 2 days – and didn’t carry hair conditioner with me – it was soooo dry, you can see it there! Hope you have a beautiful weekend! See you next week!

    Besos!

    • Very good point – I have to remember not to carry so many pieces of jewellery, so not to lose them! Up to now it’s OK, but I confess I fear losing the most important pieces. I totally understand you – that’s what I think: when in some places that can be dangerous, I only wear costume jewellery – hey, why am I wrting in English? Hahaha, I forgot!
Besoooos!

  3. Amazing collection Denise! You have excellent taste! I know you like unique and quite big jewellery and when I see something like that, I know you’d like it too. That’s what I thought about the ring too, before buying it. And thank you so much for mentioning me again! You’re always so sweet! I think you look gorgeous in the photos! Your hair color is fantastic. I know that sometimes hair can be very dry, and that’s why I use a mask almost every time. But being on the road all the time is difficult to carry all these things around with you, I understand! :)
I hope you have an amazing weekend!
    Kisses!
